Hi Alan
ERSA had a committee meeting the other night where the Provisional Race Calendar was discussed.
We note there is no Inter Regional as yet. (if there's room to fit one)
It was pointed out that since the demise of the "seedpoint" race before the Inter Regional team event many regions/racers lost interest as the lesser regions saw gain in taking part especially if a long journey.
Our suggestions is that the race be reinstated as a seeded race, we think interest might then pick up again. Racers in teams that believe they can not progress into the knockout stages would be still likely to attend as in their eyes there is something that can be gained. (Points)
I know that the race was stopped being seeded as it was thought that a best of two runs seeded race was not of the required standard.
However the precedence has now been set again this year with the BARSC and British Children's CHAMPIONSHIP races where the race is seeded even though it is a single run and with 2 separate races this is almost what the inter regional would be if seeded. If the format can be allowed for a Championship Race then it "should" be allowed for an Inter Regional Race on plastic as the basic criteria is the same.
As a region we are in favour of and would fully support the Inter Regional and to increase the interest think it should revert to the seeded form.
Maybe an item for ARC to discuss.
Even though this email comes from me it is written on the request of our Vice Chairman, John Curtis.
Thanks
Steve (on behalf of ERSA )
