MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING (circulated and on the ERSA Website)

The minutes of the last meeting – 20th March 2002 – were approved and signed by the Chairman

2.02

CHAIRMAN’s report - Half way season review

2.01.02

JA reported on the high standard of ski racing at the ERSA Grand Prix at Hemel on 02 June 2002 and he congratulates all ERSA racers at that event. Results CN GP

2.02.02

After a discussion it was decided that ERSA approves the procedure of the re-calculation of the seed points after a Club National Race on Saturday for the Grand Prix event on Sunday.

Explanation: ROTP/STP is encouraging race organisers, in order to improve entry into Grand Prix Events, to calculate seed points after the club national race in order to be able to accept late entries to Grand Prix (min seed points requirement - 250).

But this procedure will be subject to verification from Peter Heath.

3.02

RACE Organisation Technical Panel – RTP  (PvK + SL)

3.03.02

ERSA Summer League Races are very well attended this year. To make sure that a race day does not go into the late afternoon it was decided that from now on for all ERSA races ERSA’s own timing and the Softcontrol Software must be used at no cost to the organising Club. (All racers who have so far taking place in any ERSA Summer League event are already listed and only the few ‘new’ racers need to be added.) Also, all Club race managers are asked to make sure that their athletes are well in time at the start (especially for the team event). Both decisions should help with the time keeping for any race event. RTP will make sure that a local person will be shown how to use the equipment, however; it is the host Club’s responsibility to set up and take down the timing equipment.

3.04.02

SL reported that Softcontrol has not charged ERSA for the updated version of their programme. (ERSA had agreed at a previous meeting to pay for the update).

3.05.02

Please note: The Softcontrol Programme can be downloaded free of charge from the Softcontrol website. Everybody can practise however, to print off the results or start list, one needs the Dongal (a kind of plug which fits between the computer and the printer). Click to Download programme.

3.06.02

JA to contact Hemel Ski Club’s Chairperson to discuss a small problem with Hemel’s Race Manager at the Norfolk Summer League Race.

JA

3.07.02

SL suggested using this year’s ERSA internal seed points to establish a start order for next year’s Summer League Races – i.e. the racers will not compete in age order but in ability order (seed point order).

3.08.02

If Clubs need ERSA Certificates for recognising the achievement of their own ‘Scratch Teams’ performance, they should see PvK. All Club Race managers were given certificates at the beginning of the Season.

ALL

3.09.02

To make the ERSA Summer League points system fairer for all the athletes, RTP suggested a change in the points awarded to racers, starting with 50 points for the winner and 4 points to racers taking part but do not finish.

4.02

TREASURER’S REPORT –

5.02.02

It was decided that RH should get 50 sweatshirts (navy) and sell them at cost to the participants.

6.02

ERSA SQUAD Training Programme 2002 (ERSA Squad Pages)

6.01.02

One session took part at Brentwood Park Ski Centre from 10.00h – 16.00h. Eleven squad members took part. Regional Trainers, Kirk Durham and Paul Fraylich were present. Eight further local racers were invited to join the training session.

6.02.02

3 further training days are planned – at Hemel, Welwyn Garden City and at the Snow Dome.

7.02

ESC INTER-REGIONAL Competition

7.01.02

ERSA paid the race entry fee of £ 180.00 and will provide most of the cost of the special Sweatshirt for the event. Participants will be asked to contribute

£ 6.00 for the day’s racing including the garment.

7.02.02

Interregional Competition Team Selection:

RTP was asked to let the Regional Trainers select the 3 teams in the future. RTP can advice but the decision should be left with the Regional Trainers.
